The UV STAR quartz sleeve is a crucial component in ultraviolet water purification systems, serving both protective and enhancing roles for UV STAR lamps. Made from quartz, the sleeve is valued for its durability and clear optical properties, which are essential for efficient UV sterilization. Quartz’s resistance to thermal shock and low thermal expansion allows it to withstand varying water temperatures without damage. Its transparency also enables the effective passage of UV light, essential for effective water sterilization.
However, over time, the sleeve can become obscured by mineral deposits or other contaminants, hindering UV light transmission. To maintain optimal system performance, it is advised to clean the sleeve every 3 to 6 months, depending on water quality and system usage. The cleaning process involves removing the sleeve, using a suitable cleaner to eliminate deposits, and rinsing thoroughly with clean water to ensure no residue remains.
The sleeve’s design—490 mm long and 20 mm in diameter, with an open end—fits precisely over compatible UV lamps, securing proper positioning and shielding the lamp from direct water contact.
When handling the quartz sleeve, it’s important to follow safety precautions: ensure the control unit is turned off before removing or installing the sleeve to avoid electrical hazards and lamp damage. Once the sleeve is cleaned and repositioned, the control unit can be reactivated.
Furthermore, it’s important to avoid direct eye exposure to UV light when the lamp is active to prevent eye damage.
By following these maintenance steps and safety guidelines, the longevity and efficiency of the UV purification system can be significantly enhanced.
