Puro quartz sleeve

Category: Quartz Sleeves
Brand: PURO

The Puro quartz sleeve, designed specifically for use with Puro UV lamps, stands out as a crucial accessory that enhances the performance of these lamps. Crafted from high-quality quartz, a material renowned for its durability and clarity, this sleeve is not just a protective casing but a significant component that ensures the optimal functioning of the UV purification system.
Quartz is chosen for its performance in UV systems because of its exceptional properties. It is highly resistant to thermal shock and has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, which means it can withstand sudden changes in temperature without cracking.
Quartz also boasts superior optical clarity, which is crucial for the transmission of UV light. The efficiency of UV sterilization depends on the intensity of UV light reaching the pathogens in the water. Any reduction in light transmission can significantly impact the sterilization process.

The Puro quartz sleeve is designed with open ends, facilitating easy installation and removal. This feature is particularly helpful for routine maintenance or when replacing the UV bulb. The sleeve’s dimensions are: 840 mm in lenght and diameter of 15 mm.

The clarity of the sleeve means that UV light can penetrate through with minimal attenuation, maximizing the sterilization potential of the UV lamp. Over time, the quartz sleeve can become opaque due to mineral deposits or other contaminants in the water. This opacity can block UV light from effectively penetrating the water, thereby reducing the lamp’s sterilization capacity. To prevent this, regular maintenance of the quartz sleeve is essential. Cleaning the sleeve every 3 to 6 months is recommended, depending on the water quality and usage rate of the system.
The cleaning process involves carefully removing the sleeve from the sterilizer and using a suitable cleaning agent that can dissolve mineral build-ups without scratching the quartz surface. After cleaning, the sleeve should be rinsed thoroughly with clean water to remove any residues of the cleaning agent, ensuring that it remains clear and effective for light transmission.
When installing or removing a quartz tube from a UV lamp, it’s crucial to follow the correct procedure to ensure both safety and the longevity of the equipment. Start by turning off the control unit; this prevents any electrical hazards or damage to the UV lamp and control unit itself. Next, carefully remove the quartz tube. Once removed, clean the tube thoroughly to ensure optimal performance.
After cleaning, reinsert the quartz tube back into its position. Ensure that it is securely in place to avoid any potential damage. Only after the tube is properly installed should you turn the control unit back on. This process ensures that the UV lamp functions effectively and safely.
Additionally, it is important to never look directly at the UV lamp when it is on. The UV light emitted is extremely harmful and can pose a significant danger to your eyes.
